David Woodman is the Director of Crucible at Roehampton University, London, UK. Crucible is the University's centre of human rights and social justice education. As Director he has led many initiatives including:
- a university-wide programme entitled Questioning Citizenship
- a critical approach to placement and service-learning
- supporting refugee academics
- working in partnership with the voluntary sector in teaching and research
Until recently he was Assistant Dean (Teaching and Learning) in the School of Business and Sciences. This provided opportunities to raise the interest in and academic commitment to improving the student experience. He has a particular interest in developing students' capacities to engage with and argue about public issues regardless of their academic background.
